Larry & Sarah at Borgo di Tragliata: Some Stories Begin with a Song

The song that became a life

Before the garden and the wedding clothes, there was a concert. Larry and Sarah met at Electric Picnic in Stradbally, during LCD Soundsystem. A festival can leave you with a favourite chorus and a reluctance to go home. They found someone with whom to keep the music going.

On 6 March 2026, that beginning led them to Borgo di Tragliata, in the countryside outside Rome. Around two hundred guests travelled from Ireland, the UK and far beyond, bringing together parts of their lives usually separated by oceans and time zones. For a little while, the people they loved could belong to the same place.

The Borgo’s rustic character, beautiful surroundings and room for family and friends had won them over. Italy also offered pasta and pizza. Love can explain a very long journey; a good dinner makes an excellent supporting argument.

Together, from the welcome to the vows

The welcome gathering in the Borgo’s hilltop barbecue area, with The Gloves’ Dynamic Duo followed by DJ music, gave that reunion more time to unfold. The celebration began with the pleasure of having arrived together.

Sarah’s preparations included hairstyling by Val O Dea, one of the personal details that accompanied the passage into the wedding day. Green and burgundy were the couple’s chosen colours, with Emma Rose Floristry responsible for the floral design.

For their symbolic ceremony, Larry and Sarah chose the lower garden in the Valley. Garden greenery, open air and the quiet spaciousness of the Roman countryside offered a tender setting for a promise. There was a whole landscape around them; the meaning of the moment gathered in the closeness of two people choosing a shared life.

The Gloves’ pianist accompanied the ceremony. Music had been there when they met, and now it held this new threshold with a gentler voice. The anticipation of the vows, the intimacy within such a large gathering, the future suddenly given words: their story had found another beginning.

On the terrace, the world comes closer

On the terrace, the aperitif allowed the day to breathe. Music by The Gloves accompanied the happiness of coming together after the ceremony, while conversation could find its own pace again.

For Larry and Sarah, this time carried particular tenderness. Their guests had come from places as distant as Australia, Japan, South Africa and the Americas. The wedding made space for relationships that mattered even when everyday life kept them far apart.

Fabio Mirulla’s photography belonged to the memory of that gathering as well as the couple’s more intimate moments. The people and the place would remain together in images long after suitcases were packed for home. What had taken so many journeys to assemble could be returned to in a photograph.

The warmth of words before dinner

The team at Borgo di Tragliata looked after the planning and catering, giving this gathering of loved ones a welcoming home.

At the Massello, speeches came before dinner service. Seamus, the best man, Lewis, the maid of honour, Sarah’s mother Denise, and both Larry and Sarah had a place in this exchange of words.

There was warmth in the listening itself: attention settling, smiles, shared laughter and applause, emotion given room before the meal. Each voice belonged to a different part of the life that had brought them here. Across all the distances represented in the room, this was a moment of closeness.

The day’s tenderness grew through these ordinary human things: making time, speaking, listening. Pyro Wedding also contributed the celebration’s pyrotechnic element, adding another register to a day whose heart remained the people within it.

“Slow Show”, just the two of them

“Slow Show” by The National was Larry and Sarah’s first-dance choice. After the gathering and the words, here was a smaller space inside the celebration, held for the two of them.

A first dance begins in anticipation: the pause before movement, the nearness of another person, the first notes giving an unfamiliar moment something familiar to rest on. In the Teatro, the song carried that tenderness into the beginning of married life.

At Electric Picnic they had been two people in the same crowd. Now their own shared world had gathered around them. The music connected those moments with the quiet certainty of a thread running through the years.

One more song, a whole future

Then the Teatro opened into the full energy of the party. The Gloves’ eight musicians, two lead voices and horns gave the evening its live pulse. Voices and brass lifted the celebration, rhythm gathered its momentum, and the intimacy of the earlier hours became joy with room to move.

Larry and Sarah’s musical world ran through rock and roll, indie rock, folk and country. LCD Soundsystem, CMAT, Arctic Monkeys, Bon Iver, John Prine, The Strokes and The National were reference points for their tastes. There was personality here, and space for a party to feel like them.

The Gloves brought their joyful madness to that final chapter, the invitation to sing, dance and become part of the celebration. The DJ continuation kept the evening going after the live band. As for “one more and then we’ll go”, good parties have always allowed that promise a little creative interpretation.

Beneath the volume was the gentlest part of the story. A chance encounter had become a person to come home to, someone with whom to gather a world, share a promise and keep listening.

From a festival in Stradbally to this night in Italy, they had made a life between the songs. Ahead were more journeys, more ordinary mornings, more music. And each other, for all of it.
