Andrew & Eabha at Borgo di Tragliata: All the Years That Led Here

From Galway to a garden wedding near Rome: Andrew and Eabha's story at Borgo di Tragliata, with childhood memories and their favourite people together.

A little further along the same road

In 2015, Andrew and Eabha took their first holiday together in Rome. They had met through friends in Galway; now there was a whole new city to wander through together, and the beginning of a shared collection of places, days and memories.

On 7 April 2026, they returned to Italy for something much bigger than a holiday. Around 146 loved ones, including six children and guests travelling from America and Australia, came together at Borgo di Tragliata. A friend's account of a wedding there had planted the idea. The chance to celebrate and stay in one place made it feel right: time together, without another goodbye waiting after dinner. “We must catch up” could finally retire for the weekend.

Your Song, and a promise in the garden

The garden at Massello held the softness of spring: green grass, surrounding trees and that gentle sense of space that makes an outdoor promise feel wonderfully intimate. Linda Lynn had taken care of hair and makeup; Debra Flower's floral work belonged to a palette of creams, earthy tones and greenery.

The Gloves' pianist accompanied the ceremony. The theme from Up welcomed bridesmaids and flower girls, before “Your Song” gave Eabha's entrance its tender musical voice. There was time to let each promise settle: “Imagine” for the sand ritual, “La Vie en Rose” for the rings and “Amazing Grace” for the promises.

With “All You Need Is Love” came the release of joy. In Peggy Picot's photographs for Maison Pestea, Andrew and Eabha walk through their guests as petals fill the air. The life they had built together suddenly had a whole crowd cheering it on.

Everyone within reach

On the Massello terrace, music by The Gloves accompanied the aperitif. Glasses in hand, familiar faces gathered in the open air; the ceremony's quiet concentration softened into conversation and laughter.

This was what bringing everyone to Italy could give them: unhurried company. Friends who had crossed oceans could share the same afternoon, while the Roman countryside gave the gathering its green, generous setting.

The years at every table

Dinner brought everyone indoors to the Borgo Antico, with “You Make My Dreams” chosen for the entrance. Borgo di Tragliata's kitchen and wedding team took care of the meal and coordination, keeping the welcome at the heart of the evening.

Each table number came with childhood photographs of Andrew and Eabha at the corresponding age. Before finding your seat, you could meet a younger version of the bride or groom. A seating plan with rather more photographic evidence than most.

Andrew, best man Michael, Eabha's father Tadhg and maid of honour Roise took their turns at the microphone. Attention gathered around their words; smiles, laughter and emotion made room for one another. The photographs looked back through the years, while the people at the tables brought those years warmly into the room.

A little sweetness in the night

For the cake cutting, they chose “Sugar” by Maroon 5. The photographs catch the two of them beside the cake, with fireworks brightening the night behind them.

There was something lovely about this pause before the party: another moment to stand close, take in the day and let the celebration shine around them.

Love, in more than one dance

“This Will Be” by Natalie Cole was their first-dance choice: warmth, anticipation and the delight of beginning something together. After a day spent sharing their story with everyone else, the dance gave Andrew and Eabha a little space of their own.

Paul Simon's “Father & Daughter” also had its place. The evening held both the love they were promising each other and the family love that had accompanied them this far. Those childhood photographs on the tables felt especially close.

All together, a little louder

Then the indoor Massello filled with the live energy of The Gloves: two voices, rhythm section and bright brass, bringing the celebration right into the crowd. The photographs tell their own exuberant story—friends singing into the microphone, Leo singing among the guests, musicians joining the fun at close quarters. The room felt alive with people enjoying being together.

Two hours of DJ music followed the band. Umberto Atterga Films looked after the wedding film, preserving movement and sound alongside Peggy's photographs. The following day brought another shared chapter with Sax 'n' DJ by The Gloves, giving the gathering more time before the journeys home.

From friends in Galway to a first holiday in Rome, their story had grown through the years. At Borgo, surrounded by the people who belonged to it, Andrew and Eabha made room for all the years still to come.
